About Us

Parimal Mitra Smriti Mahavidyalaya, is a coeducational institution in the western part of Dooars in West Bengal, India. This hallowed college is affiliated to North Bengal University. The institute was funded and founded with the philanthropic zeal of people of this remote area falling under Tribal Belt. It falls under the 20 Mal ST constituency of Jalpaiguri district. With collective effort and unflagging optimism this college came into existence on 19 September 1985. It began its odyssey with Arts discipline only in the beginning.

There was no permanent house of the college. Pedagogy commenced in a rented house of Jalpaiguri Zilla Parisad here at Malbazar. The current college building shifted to this place near Soongachhi Tea Garden on 21 January 1991. The Dooars Branch Indian Tea Association deserves special mention in this regard as the main sponsor towards the construction of this building. The college was the torch bearer of learning in this tribal belt under 20 (ST Mal) Assembly constituency at that time. Since then there has been no looking back. Permission for introduction of Commerce came in the year 1996. The much awaited introduction of Science was effected from the 2016-2017 academic session. At present the college offers education in twelve different subjects under Arts, Science and Commerce stream in its sprawling campus.

Located in 13.2 acres pollution free, serene and lush green piece of land amid the pristine grandeur of the Himalayan foothills in the rural western Dooars, Parimal Mitra Smriti Mahavidyalaya is an ideal institute to nurture the intellect for complete transformation of young graduate. The college has one of the best faculties in the field of education, spacious classrooms and adequate educational infrastructure on the campus. The atmosphere has a refreshing touch of nature.
